It’s hard for me to write beginnings.
There’s something about a blank page — thrilling and full of possibility, but daunting and overwhelming.
In school, I would always write the middle first and come back to write the rest later. Seemed easier that way, skipping the introduction and just jumping in to what really matters.
“A first chance to make a first impression,” but what will that first impression be? I over think the simple.
Life is kind of like that, too. It’s easy to look at someone else’s middle and want to start there: fast forward through the tough starts and the long learning curve and have already “arrived.”
Or in friendships — to already be the type of friend that can say, “You have spinach in your teeth,” or “Your lasagna really didn’t turn out that great this time.”
To already know you are loved because you shared your darkest secret and you were loved anyway. To already be the friend who has stood the test of time. That’s what I want for us.
But I know we have to start somewhere.
Beginnings are hard, but they are good!
So here we are: a brand new space, a new beginning. I am so excited, a little bit scared, and thrilled that you are here to walk with me. So if this is an awkward beginning, forgive me. I’m ready to jump in deep and get started on our journey.
This is a place to hang out and sip coffee, or tea, or maybe just some water with lemon! Whatever your beverage of choice, put your feet up, get comfy, and let’s get to know each other! We’ll talk light and discuss deep, sharing our joys and struggles and the lessons we’re learning along the way.
Wherever you’ve come from and wherever you’re headed, I pray that here you’ll find rest and encouragement for your soul. May we be the kind of community that sees to it that no one misses the grace of God!
Now, leave a comment introducing yourself and telling me a little about you! {Pretty, please?!}
Hi Erika! It’s so nice to be in this new space & see all that God is going to do here. Thank-you for following His leading- I know it will bless so many! :)
I’m Jessica, and I’m a stay-at-home homeschooling mommy to 6 precious children ages 7 and under (just one boy in the mix). My days are spent a lot like yours… wiping noses, hunting down missing socks, cleaning up spills, and training little hearts to follow after God! I’m married to my ministry-minded best-friend, & we are expectantly awaiting what God has next for our family. My passion is for God & leading families closer to Him, & I love sharing encouragement & about what God is doing along the way at “Our Family for His Glory”!
Blessings,
Jessica
Jessica! Thank you so much for sharing! I learn much from you and your writing, and have been praying for you and your family through all of the changes you have been experiencing lately. SO thankful to have you here and looking forward to walking together!
Erika, You write so beautifully and I am excited about this new space of yours! I loved connecting with you at Relevant and hope that we have a middle and continuation to our friendship ;o) I pray blessings over you as you branch out with this new site that is ministry to hearts far and wide. Love, Kristin
Awww, Kristin! Thank you!!
I was so thankful for the short time we had to spend time together at Relevant. Like you, I pray it’s just the beginning! Thank you SO much for the prayers. I don’t want to do any of this without HIM leading the way!

Erika, I agree. You are a gifted writer and I’m excited to be a part of this new endeavor for Christ. I know you know me, but for those that don’t, I’m Addie. I’m a single mom of a 9 year old girl and 7 year old boy. They are my life :) I’m just finishing up my nursing degree (ASN) and work as an LPN now. Life is busy and chaotic but I’m thankful for places like this to talk to other women in all different situations. God is good despite how our lives never seem to turn out the way we planned as kids :) Looking forward to the ‘middle’ of this :)
9 and 7??!! How in the world did they grow up so fast?!
Thanks for sharing about yourself, Addie! I’m so thankful you’re “here”! :)
Hi Erika, I too think you are very gifted and I’ve enjoyed reading what you have here. You know me, but for those that don’t, I am a missionary and have lived here in the jungles of Venezuela all my life, working here with the Yanomamö tribe. Looking so forward to making this journey with you! :D
