God’s Word is living and active! The Holy Spirit uses the Word in powerful ways in our lives, and thoroughly equips us (2 Timothy 3:16-17). I want to do all that I can to help my kids memorize and know the Word of God.
Who knows when the Holy Spirit will bring the Truth of His Word back to the minds and hearts of my kids? He can use even the simple passages my kids memorize at age 3 to convict, encourage, and comfort them not just at age 3 but also at age 30!
A Bible study friend of mine claims that when our kids memorize and know Scripture, God uses that Truth in their hearts like a homing pigeon in their lives, drawing them back to His heart and into relationship with Him even years later.
God has promised that His Word will not return empty or void. It will accomplish what it has set out to do.
There are many ways to memorize God’s Word, but one of the easiest {and most fun!} is through music!
Of course there are many different styles of Scripture music, and the list below isn’t exhaustive by any means. I’m sharing some of the Scripture music albums I know about, a few being our favorites!
Scripture Music for Kids
- Seeds Family Worship is a favorite of ours. These albums have helped me memorize Scripture just as much as it has helped the kids. We love it, too, because the music isn’t just for kids.
- Hidden in My Heart is an album of Scripture lullabies. I have played this one frequently at bedtime and while my kids sleep, but I have found these songs to be of great comfort to me, too, when my heart was anxious or afraid. Calming, comforting Truth.
- Steve Green’s Hide ‘Em in Your Heart was one of the first CDs given to us when we became parents. Written for kids and easy to learn, these Scripture songs have been some of my kids’ favorites.
- If you’re looking for upbeat, catchy, and Scripture music you can dance to, Meet the Rizers is probably the one you’re looking for. This album has 9 specific verses, and this one has 10 others.
- If a little more folksy is more your style, you’ll want to check out Fighter Verse Songs, put out by Children Desiring God. Set 1 has 40 different songs/verses, and there are 5 different sets!
- Definitely older in style, Integrity Music has a number of Scripture Memory albums grouped by theme — faith-building, overcoming anxiety, God’s Love, praise, etc.
- Lesser known but loved by those who know it is the Entrusted with a Child’s Heart Scripture Memory Songs. {Bonus – this album is by a friend of one of my best friends!}
- Max Lucado’s Hermie and Friends has quite a few albums with Scripture set to music. One of the great thing about these discs is that they are grouped by theme: following the rules, being a friend, being truthful, etc.
- Songs for Saplings is another popular option, though definitely listen before purchasing to make sure you like the style of music. This series has quite a few CDs with Scripture set to music, and there are others with theology and catechism set to music!
- This one is new to me, but I am loving this album of Scripture songs all about the attributes of God by Grace Evangelical Church.
More Kids’ Music that teaches Biblical Values
Thought these aren’t all Scripture verses set to music, these other CDs, based on Biblical principles, are some favorites in our family:
- Psalty — I loved Psalty as a kid, and still do today. We have purchased almost every disc for our kids and they are often on repeat for us. {Please don’t judge the music by the look of the website!}
- Bullfrogs and Butterflies — My husband listened to this one as a kid, but it was new to me. Our kids have loved the songs and story — me too!
- Sleep Sound in Jesus — This is another album my husband listened to as a child and has also become a bedtime favorite in our home. 17 gentle lullabies by Michael Card.
- The Donut Man — another oldie but goodie!
- Slugs & Bugs — a new favorite!
So what would you add to the list?

Another great resource is Judy Rogers’ Go to the Ant.
GT and the HALO EXPRESS!!!! The BEST!!!
I’ve never heard of that one — thanks for sharing!
Another great one my kids love is Patch the Pirate. They have a lot of children’s stories with great Scriptural themes, songs, and Scriptures.
Thanks for the suggestion, Dawn! I’m not familiar with Patch the Pirate.
* The NIV Kid’s Club song CDs and videos are another great Resource for Learning God’s Word Through Song. They are from the 1990’s, but really good. My adult children still remember the songs and the Bible verses learned.
