I have three kids 4 and under, which means that running a quick errand is never quick. So shopping for anything other than groceries doesn’t happen very often.
This past month, I did something that I don’t normally do. I decided to splurge a little. For some of you, this might not seem like splurging, and for others, this will seem like a stretch. I want to tell you about both, though, in case you are anything like me, and just need a little help!
Stitch Fix

Have you heard of Stitch Fix yet? If you know me personally, you’ve heard me lament my pitiful sense of style and dwindling wardrobe since becoming a mom.
Even if I had the chance to shop, I’m out of touch with the current styles and usually end up looking for something for the kids. If it weren’t for my sweet husband who bought me a pair of jeans on his lunch break last week, I’d be down to only one pair that is hole-free!
Enter Stitch Fix. Stitch Fix is kind of like having your own personal stylist and shopper. They pick out the clothes, and send them right to you!
How will they know what size I am and what style I like?
To get the right size, style, and selection, you fill out a thorough but easy style survey when you sign up. Questions cover everything from what size you are to rating pictures of different outfits. You can even add a web link to help your stylist get a sense of your personal style. For me, that was my “If I Could Shop” Pinterest board!
How expensive is it?
Good question. You can choose a price point when you fill out the survey in the beginning. I chose “the cheaper the better.”
Everyone pays a $20 “styling fee.” My understanding is that if you end up purchasing something in your “fix,” that $20 is applied toward the purchase. If you return everything, you’re out twenty bucks. If you decide to keep all 5 items in your “fix,” you get a 25% discount!
The price is my biggest question mark. Since I haven’t received my first “fix,” I haven’t seen the price tags. I tend to be a cheap skate very frugal, but I am desperate willing to pay a little bit for the convenience factor. We’ll see.
What if I don’t like my fix?
This is another thing that I love about Stitch Fix. Instead of needing to repackage and make a trek out to UPS or FedEx to send a return, an envelope is included in each order and can be sent from any United States Postal System mailbox. Postage is all included. Easy peasy. Just what I need.
What are you waiting for?
Though there is currently a wait list, you can sign up here. {That’s my personal referral link, and I’d LOVE for you to use it! Once you sign up, you can share yours, too!}
My very first Stitch Fix is scheduled to arrive this week, and I can’t wait to tell you about it!
Kiwi Crate
I’ve been hearing about Kiwi Crate for what seems like forever, but every time someone mentioned it, this penny-pinching Mama dismissed it. After all, there’s no shortage of project ideas for kids on Pinterest!
But I have a paint-loving, project-seeking, artist daughter who just about every day begs her non-crafty, cringes-at-a-mess Mama to do a project with her. I have really good intentions, but with all that’s involved from planning to completed, it usually doesn’t happen.
After all, picking out a project isn’t just picking out a project. There’s gathering the supplies, running out to the store to pick up what we don’t have (remember my problem with that?!), stopping at another store to find what the first store didn’t carry, figuring out how the project is supposed to work, and then messing up the first attempt (remember, non-crafty Mom!) … Kiwi Crate is sounding better and better!
In case you haven’t heard of it before, Kiwi Crate is an award-winning, monthly subscription service for kids ages 3-7. For a little less than $20 per month, your little one will receive multiple arts, crafts, and science activities – delivered right to your door.
Cool, huh? I took the plunge and ordered our first kit this week. My sweet girl’s birthday is coming up, and I know this is something she will love!
You can purchase Single Crates or Monthly Subscriptions and everything is included, even the shipping! No more pouring over Pinterest trying to come up with a project — oh, who I am I kidding? I’m sure I’ll pour over Pinterest with or without Kiwi Crate! But no more running out to the store multiple times to find that one missing item! Hurray! Can’t wait to try it out and let you know what I think.
Questions for you:
What are your thoughts on Stitch Fix and Kiwi Crate? Have you signed up for a fix or ordered a kit? How was your experience?
I just signed up for Stichfix under you. I kept hearing about it but hadn’t done it yet and you convinced me. ;) Now, I’m excited to try it!
