We are all fighting daily for gratitude, and teaching our kids to live lives of thankfulness takes constant reinforcement. These are some of our favorite books to inspire gratitude in our kids.
Christian Books Teaching Kids about Gratitude
Thank you, God, for Blessing Me :: Join Max Lucado’s popular character, Hermie, as he discovers the blessings of God all around us! has given
The Blessings Jar :: The Blessings Jar is a sweet story about turning our grumpiness into gratefulness. And of course I love how we see the influence Grandma has on her little granddaughter!
Growing Together in Gratitude :: This book is one book in a set of 4. Each is a 7-day devotional sharing stories of true heroes who made noble choices. Growing Together in Gratitude focuses, of course, on sharing stories, Scriptures, prayers, and journal space to encourage and grow gratitude in our families.
Let’s Make a Joyful Noise and I Will Rejoice :: These two books are written by Karma Wilson (author of some of our favorite Bear books) and are based on Psalm 100 and Psalm 118, respectively, and help kids discover the joy of praising God and seeing each day as a gift from Him.
Ronnie Wilson’s Gift by Francis Chan :: This book makes me cry – every. time. After learning that Jesus loved him so much that he died for him, Little Ronnie Wilson wants to give Jesus a gift. This story shares what Ronnie learns about giving to others and giving to Jesus. Beautiful.
A Content Heart :: Rather than a children’s book, this is a Bible study for children and youth (two different versions). I love these children’s studies put out by Kim, and this is her newest – a Bible study for kids focused on developing a content heart.
Other Books about Thankfulness
Small Blessings :: Small Blessings is a small book reminding us of the many, many blessings all around us.
How Full is Your Bucket? :: The idea behind How Full is Your Bucket? is to put yourself in someone else’s shoes and think about how we affect others – for good or bad. Through the story of Felix, children learn that being kind affects not only others but themselves too.
I’m Thankful Each Day :: This easy to read book is another that shows the many things around us for which we can be thankful.
I’ve included lots more book ideas here.
