Have you tried out any of the at-home date nights people will actually do?
Well, it’s time to get creative and plan some dates out on the town!
Of course there’s the traditional dinner and a movie, concert in the park, or an evening at the coffee house, but let’s think out of the box a little and throw in some fun!
Unique Date Ideas for a Date Night OUT
- Get cultural — go to the ballet, get tickets to the orchestra, or visit an art museum.
- Spontaneous Road trip :: Figure out how much time you have available for your date, and start driving until you’ve reached 1/3 of that time. (For a 3-hour date, drive for 1 hour.) Then spend 1/3 of your date at that location, and 1/3 driving home. No fair planning ahead – you just have to gure out what to do when you get there. You may have to get creative if your time runs out while you are in the middle of nowhere! {Source — so many great ideas!}
- Pick something off of the bucket list you made during your at-home date and do it!!
- Take a class together. The possibilities are endless these days — cooking, painting, photography, or even zumba! Pick something you both enjoy or try out something your spouse loves! No classes local to you? Try out one of these free classes!
- Have fun go-karting, playing whirly ball, or kicking butt in mini-golf or bowling
- Enjoy a day on the water — rent jet skis, kayaks, paddleboats, or a fishing charter! Pick your speed and plan your date, just make sure to wear sunscreen and have fun!
- Kidnap another couple! This source suggests dinner, but you could take it up a notch and challenge them to laser tag, tennis, or a rousing card game at the coffee house!
- Test drive a new car. Don’t go safe and pick a minivan! Choose a car you’ve always dreamed of owning, or pick one the next level up from what you can afford. {SOURCE}
- Explore your town or the next town over!
- Playground Date :: Chase each other on the monkey bars, swing on the swings, race down the slides or play tag on all of the equipment! Let loose and have fun. For great conversation questions while there, Scripture to dig deep, prayer ideas, and a marriage devotional, grab Gary Chapman’s book 52 Uncommon Dates!
- Get out of your comfort zone and play the “trade up game” (remember this from HS youth group? Ours called it “Bigger and Better”) :: This game is easy, but might take one (or both) of you out of your comfort zone! Start with a small object, like a quarter or a paper clip. Go to your neighbor’s house (or a nearby neighborhood if that feels less awkward), ring the doorbell, and ask what they will trade for. The only rule is that it has to be either bigger or better! Maybe they will o er you a co ee mug. Now, head to the next house and ask what they will trade for your mug! Keep going until you have something you can use to enjoy the rest of your date. {Source}
- Fly kites in the park.
- Go to a bookstore and look at the travel section. Plan your dream vacation together or on your own to share with each other.
- Serve together :: Volunteer at the local homeless shelter, serve the seniors at the nursing home, or chaperone a high school dance!
