Today I am writing over at the Allume blog again.
I was supposed to write about marriage or motherhood, and usually those words aren’t in short supply. But each time I prayed over that post and sat down to write, my heart kept coming back to one message.
Maybe it’s because I always seem to fall into that trap of try harder and struggle with the effort to be better. How often we see ourselves coming up short: we see what’s wrong, where we’ve failed, how we’re not good enough.
Yet, while we were still sinners Christ died for us. He didn’t wait for us to dust ourselves off or pull ourselves up by our bootstraps.
Before the foundations of the world, He chose us.
He chose us, knowing every mistake, every wrong choice, every failure we’d make.
You, my friend, are precious in the sight of God.
He’s not asking you to try harder. He’s asking you to lean into Him, finding your sufficiency in Christ alone.
So, if you ever wonder whether or not you’re enough, I pray you’ll find grace and encouragement in these words today.
